There is an obvious negative tone to the idea of  &quot;narcissism&quot; but can there be a positive hue to this? I think so.

With the only real job security being ones ability and confidence in an industry some narcissism is likely necessary for survival. When thinking about one&#039;s self, one would likely develop personal faster than those who aren&#039;t thinking about themselves and their career or personal performance. My hunch is that now days everyone needs a bit of narcissistic behavior in order to succeed in this professional world.

		<description><![CDATA[interesting article... it&#039;s probably safe to say that the biggest thing feeding this influx of narcissists is a confluence of different types of &#039;new&#039; media. It&#039;s not just the MTV generation anymore. Now people are obsessed with &#039;digital&#039; fame - and thanks to online social networking sites, everyone can be a celeb. 

However, is this really anything new? People have always inherently been this way, it&#039;s just that now the soap box is bigger and the microphone is louder, and more people are listening, all thanks to the internet.]]></description>
