Hello! My name is Kevin Torres and I’m the creator and author of Social-Brain.com. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my work. My goal with this blog/website is to bring you relevant business information from the fields of sales, marketing, and management while supplementing it with the latest research and findings from the fields of neuroscience, neuromarketing, and neuroeconomics.
A little about myself professionally:
My professional background is in healthcare business development and management at the local, regional, and national level. For five years I worked for UniFirst Corporation, a billion dollar a year industrial laundering company, where I got my start in field sales in Chicago helping launch the company’s new healthcare market on a national level.
With time, experience, and success I found myself accepting a promotion to work out of UniFirst’s international headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts where I nationally managed a 700-person field sales force specifically for the Healthcare and Preferred Vendor market segments. As a result of my progressive vision and management, field sales grew by 155% and 32% nationally for those two respective market segments.
In addition to my management responsibilities I created all of the healthcare sales education, conducted all of the field sales training for the healthcare market, and worked with a third party marketing agency to create and implement an “inbound” marketing strategy to supplement field sales efforts. I am grateful for my time with UniFirst and am extremely proud of all that we achieved in Chicago, regionally, and nationally.
I currently work for Myriad Genetic Laboratories in Chicago, IL where I specialize in biotechnology and complex sales strategy. I work with providers, specialists, practices and healthcare networks to prevent and treat certain cases of common cancers.
A little about myself academically:
I am a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Go Redhawks! In my time at Miami (OH) I studied biopsychology, neuroscience, and marketing. My relevant coursework included: advanced biopsychology, advanced psychopharmacology, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, cognitive neuroscience, social neuroscience, and primate biology and behavior.
After my biopsychology and neuroscience coursework were complete I moved on to Miami’s Farmer School of Business, one of the nation’s top 5 undergraduate business schools, where I studied marketing and sales. Much to my amazement, I found an underlying connection between marketing and sales strategy and the lessons I learned in neuroscience. This unique connection fueled my self research into the field of neuromarketing.
Today, in addition to my professional job, I work with Miami University’s Farmer School of Business helping with senior level marketing and sales classes to supplement coursework with real-world sales and management experience. In April 2011, I was appointed to the Young Professional Advisory Council for the Farmer School of Business where I work with faculty and administration to help shape the future of The Farmer School of Business.

Kevin, excellent website. I’m just getting to really dig in, but very interesting stuff.
Thanks! It’s a work in progress. Your feedback is always helpful.
[Just wanted you to be aware of typos under Pavlov’s dog see **:
It’s like saying “That person is acting **they** way they do because that’s just who they are.” Critical thinking and understanding would suggest that there is a lot more that goes into **to** understanding people’s actions and behaviors.]
Great blog – I enjoyed some of your interesting posts. Keep them coming.
Best I’ve found. I’m an artist/designer and neuroscience junkie. I work to apply the information people in your field provide and you offer practical, helpful, “mindful” tips and tools that can be applied to our design process. I’m a fan…thanks!
We rep EmSense and would like to add you to our news list.
May I have your email address?
